Shipyard workers burned by blast of steam

While the following story did not occur here in Florida, or even the United States, it does exemplify the dangers of working at, or being around, shipyards. Three people were injured in a shipyard accident after a burst of steam burned them. Two of the injured people needed to be hospitalized as a result of their burns, while the third injured victim was treated at the site of the shipyard accident.

Other than that, there are few details about this accident. But what we can take away from this story is just how unexpected shipyard accidents can be by nature. You may assume that a shipyard accident would involve a vessel at sea, or powerful machinery that was improperly operated.

Instead, in this case, we see that shipyard accidents can involve dangerous conditions that you wouldn't necessarily associate with shipyards upon your first thought. Shipyard workers have to deal with a lot in their jobs, and there are many rules and regulations that pertain to their safety and training on the docks.

When these rules and regulations are violated, the employer will have a lot of explaining to do. Injured employees will need to consult with an experienced attorney to ensure their interests and rights are upheld. Injured shipyard workers can lose out on wages as a result of an accident, and they will likely have to deal with medical bills and costs to recover from the accident. For these reasons, it is imperative that injured shipyard workers consider their legal options.

If you or someone close to you has been injured in a shipyard accident, the Law Offices of John W. Merting is here to provide you with the experienced legal guidane you need and deserve.
