Fatal cruise ship accident in Miami being investigated

In our last couple of posts, we have talked about cruise ship accidents. Today we continue with that theme, and in an unfortunate way: a tragic cruise ship accident claimed the life of an 8-year-old girl. The fatal accident occurred in Miami after a Carnival cruise ship had finished it's voyage. The 8-year-old was on the upper level of an inner atrium on the ship, and she fell some 20 feet to a lower level. She was transported to a local hospital, but she couldn't be saved.

The tragedy is under investigation and the police homicide department is working with investigators to determine what exactly happened here.

Cruise ships are filled with a lot of things to do -- but they are also filled with hazards and dangerous areas. Immense heights could lead to someone falling and injuring themselves, or even suffering fatal injuries. Powerful equipment or slippery surfaces could lead to someone slipping and falling, or being dealt a catastrophic injury. And pools, staircases, and other dangerous conditions could exist on a cruise ship. It is up to the cruise ship owners to keep everyone on board the ship safe.

When this condition isn't met, then the cruise ship owner is opened up to liability. The victims of any cruise ship accidents, or the loved ones of a victim, could pursue civil litigation against Carnival, or Royal Caribbean, or any other cruise liner.
